Actual weight, volumetric weight and CBM
Measure the final packaging and compare weights before requesting a quote.
What should you measure?
Use the maximum outer length, width and height of the sealed packaging, including protrusions. Gross weight includes goods and packaging. Enter each size separately and avoid counting pieces twice.
Volumetric weight
Volumetric weight (kg) = length × width × height (cm) ÷ divisor. 5000 and 6000 are planning references: DHL Express publishes 5000 and FreightAmigo air freight publishes 6000. Confirm the chosen service’s divisor, per-piece or shipment assessment, rounding and minimum billable weight in the quote.
Sea freight volume
CBM = length × width × height (cm) ÷ 1,000,000 × quantity. LCL pricing also depends on gross weight, stackability, minimum charges, destination-port costs and delivery scope. Volume alone does not determine the full shipping price.
