China–US shipping quotes: compare landed costs before choosing a route
Separate freight, duties, warehouse work and order fulfillment so your US business can compare shipping options on the same basis.
Reviewed 2026-10-09 · 3 min readDefine where the comparison ends
A quote to a port, a quote to a US warehouse and a quote for a delivered customer order cover different work. Define the endpoint first. For inventory replenishment, compare cost through the stock being received and available at the US warehouse. For direct orders, compare through the agreed customer-delivery scope.
Use the same products, quantities, packing measurements and destination assumptions. Identify whether the comparison covers one shipment, one order or a month of operations; keep those units consistent.
Separate the cost components
Our suggested comparison separates goods value from logistics and import expenses. Mark each line as included, estimated, excluded or awaiting confirmation. Do not enter zero for an unknown charge.
- China operations: supplier collection if arranged, receiving, storage, consolidation, labeling and packing.
- Transport: international freight, quoted surcharges and destination transport.
- Import: applicable duties, broker or entry fees and other confirmed charges, with the payer identified.
- US warehouse and orders: receiving, storage, picking, packing, parcel shipping and returns where required.
Ask for product-specific duty assumptions
USITC describes the HTS classification framework and additional tariff provisions, including relevant Chapter 99 treatment. Have the importer and broker confirm the classification, origin, valuation and applicable measures for the actual goods and entry. A base-rate lookup does not establish the entire import bill.
Retain the source and date behind any duty estimate. If the quote uses an estimated amount, agree how the final assessment is reconciled and who pays any difference.
Compare total fulfillment costs, not only freight
ShipBob publicly separates implementation, inventory receiving, warehousing and picking, packing and shipping in its pricing structure. That is a useful reminder that a transport comparison needs the warehouse and order costs around it. The provider uses custom quotes; its public structure is not a rate card for Jeton Express.
For your own comparison, include any agreed one-time setup charge separately from recurring costs. State what packaging, extra items, kitting and returns involve. Compare equivalent service scopes before judging one option cheaper.
Request a quote that can be revised clearly
Provide your SKU list, packed measurements, supplier locations, expected volume and US delivery or receiving address. Ask for the quote validity period, included work, excluded charges, tax assumptions and adjustment process.
Jeton Express can discuss the existing China–US parcel and warehouse services against that brief. The team will confirm the available route and operating scope; customs treatment is reviewed with the responsible importer and broker.
