Click-N-Ship, label providers and USPS APIs: plan the merchant workflow
Choose ownership of postage, labels, payments and order updates before using Click-N-Ship, a label provider or the current USPS API platform.

Decide who buys postage, supplies the approved label and reconciles the result with the customer order. Click-N-Ship, a marketplace label workflow and a direct API arrangement may assign those tasks differently. Map the chosen process before sending work to a warehouse.
USPS states that its legacy Web Tools platform retired on January 25, 2026 and directs users to the current USPS APIs. An old integration guide should therefore be checked against the current platform rather than treated as a production setup instruction.
Define the boundaries before connecting systems
List the store, label system, authorised account holder and dispatch team. Review the current product documentation, access requirements and test environment for the chosen arrangement. Approval to inspect a label is not approval to purchase postage from somebody else’s account.
| Check | Record or next action |
|---|---|
| Postage and payment | Account owner, purchased product and transaction reconciliation. |
| Label supply | Approved file format and parcel mapping sent to packing. |
| Order feedback | Owner of saved carrier references and customer notifications. |
| Exceptions | Owner of failures, replacement labels and refund requests. |
Test the result of a request as well as the connection
Use a representative sample in the applicable testing process. Check address validation, label output and the order-to-parcel record. Include an interrupted response and a cancelled order where supported, then agree how the account holder determines the final transaction status.
Before live release, confirm the actual permissions and operating responsibilities. A successful sign-in or test label does not establish that every product, origin, destination or production action has been enabled.
Reconcile the first live dispatch end to end
Compare the issued labels, final parcels, charged records and physical handover. Check how the store receives the final carrier numbers and how a replaced label is retained in the history. Assign a support owner for each system involved.
For a Jeton brief, specify the label-supply method and release instructions that have been agreed. This site’s inspection and planning tools do not establish a live postage-purchasing API connection; any such arrangement needs its own confirmed scope.
